Read Before You Apply - Required Eligibility Criteria
Applications that do not meet all of the criteria will not be reviewed. Please read the eligibility guidelines carefully before investing time in an application. If you are unsure whether your organization or project qualifies, contact us before applying.
Established nonprofits only
Applicants must be an existing nonprofit organization with a minimum of three (3) years of continuous operation. New or recently formed organizations do not qualify at this time.
Tax-exempt status required.
Your organization must hold a 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS, or operate under the fiscal sponsorship of a qualifying tax-exempt nonprofit. It is the applicant’s responsibility to secure a fiscal sponsorship arrangement before submitting an application.
Program-specific funding only.
Grant funds must support a defined program or project that directly benefits families and individuals in our service area. Funding cannot be used for administrative fees, operational overhead, general operating expenses, sponsorships, events, or other foundations.
Geographic requirement.
The program or project must serve residents within the Foundation’s approved communities in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Who Can Apply
- Established nonprofit - organization has been in continuous operation for at least three (3) years
- Holds a valid 501(c)(3) tax-exempt designation from the IRS, or operates under a signed fiscal sponsorship agreement with a qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit
- Proposed program or project directly aligns with the Foundation's mission of enriching the lives of families through health, mental health, food and shelter services
- Program or project serves residents within the Foundation's approved geographic service area in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island
- Organization can demonstrate financial health and the staff or board capacity to successfully implement the proposed program
- Applicant does not discriminate in the hiring of staff or the provision of services based on ethnicity, gender or gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability or national origin
The following do not qualify:
- Administrative fees or overhead costs
- Staff salaries or executive compensation
- Capital campaigns or building construction
- Sponsorships of any kind
- Events, galas, or fundraising activities
- Grants to other foundations or grant-making bodies
- Debt repayment or deficit reduction

Application Process
CONFIRM ELIGIBILITY
Review all eligibility criteria and ensure your organization and project fully qualify before starting your application.
SUBMIT ON SUBMITTABLE
Complete and submit the application through our Submittable portal before the June 30 or December 31 deadline.
BOARD REVIEW
The Foundation’s board reviews all eligible applications based on our selection criteria after each cycle closes.
AWARD NOTIFICATION
Applicants are notified of award decisions. Funded organizations receive grant funds and reporting requirements.

• Strength of Organization (overall financial health)
• Staff/board strength to implement project or program
• Definition of successful implementation
• Feasible and realistic implementation plan/timeline
